England and Brighton and Hove Albion striker Kirby is amongst the most successful football stars in history having won the Women’s Super League seven times and the FA Cup five times with Chelsea. Fran Kirby's wildly successful career spans a wide range of international and domestic appearances, including key strikes during the WEURO 2017 and 2018 SheBelieves Cup and winning the European Championships in 2022 with England. She has also excelled in the domestic game as a key player for an all-conquering Chelsea team. As of May 2024, when it was announced that Kirby would be leaving Chelsea at the end of the 2023–24 season, she holds the record as the club’s leading goal scorer, with 116 goals, holding this record since December 2020.
The 2020-21 season was an incredible campaign for Kirby. After 16 goals in 20 appearances as Chelsea won the quadruple, Kirby was awarded the PFA Women’s Players’ Player of the Year, FWA Women’s Footballer of the Year, London Football Awards Women's Super League Player of the Year, FA Women’s Super League Player of the Year and Chelsea Women's Player of the Year.
Shortly after helping England win the Arnold Clark Cup, it was announced that Kirby would be taking a break from football due to a fatigue-related illness, but she returned in time to make the Lionesses' EURO 2022 squad. Fran played a key role in the WEURO 2022 final, and she was the player who set England on their way in the tournament with the assist to Beth Mead in the nervy opener against Austria.
Unfortunately, Fran missed out on the FWWC 2023 due to a knee injury but is now back on the field, playing at top level for Brighton and Hove Albion and England.
